Vehicle Vault Pit Crew promotes a positive visitor experience while enforcing Gallery procedures, ensuring that the visitors’ first and last impression of their experience at the Gallery is a positive one. Our Pit Crew provides excellent customer service while ensuring the safety of visitors, staff and Gallery assets, exhibits and displays. Pit Crew has good working knowledge of the Gallery facilities, exhibitions, activities, and assists with ticket sales, visitor greeting and orientation, gift shop sales and inventory, daily set up for public spaces and special events; maintains supplies of visitor materials; and responds to emergencies.
Visitor Access & Hospitality
Greet visitors, process ticket sales and facilitate visitor access
Promote positive visitor experiences at Gallery events and programs
Act as a service advocate to resolve visitor complaints/concerns to their satisfaction
Performs daily opening/closing duties throughout the Gallery, including routine cleaning and restocking of Gallery supplies and program materials.
Ensure all visitors receive an initial orientation to the Gallery. Conduct orientations using narrative, inquiry, discussion, discovery and other interactive techniques
Communicate with a variety of visitors with diverse interests and abilities in a manner that enhances their general understanding of exhibits and the Gallery
Provide visitors with information, maintaining a courteous and helpful attitude at all times, having developed good working knowledge of the facilities, exhibitions, and activities
Attend and participate regularly in exhibition trainings and walkthroughs
Assist with visitor evaluation, visitor tracking, and attendance studies
Oversee and promote on-site membership and processing for membership sales team; promote Gallery Store sales
Assist with daily set-ups in public spaces and special event set-ups, including minimal A/V needs
Coordinate advanced ticketing sales for programs and special events
Act as a guide for guests in the Gallery and museum
Crew Members will be cross-trained in customer service and sales, museum docent duties, safety, Gallery procedures, and all exhibitions.
High school diploma or equivalent; some college experience preferred
Advanced coursework or experience in customer service, education and/or family learning, or retail operations preferred
Proficient in multiple computer hardware and software platforms necessary
Excellent communication skills and ability to interact positively with children, adults, and large groups
Ability to react positively to a rapidly changing environment and make good decisions under pressure
Ability to work with diverse staff and visitors
Theatrical or other performance experience a plus
Proficiency in multiple languages a plus
